I saw Pearl Cleage's two one-act plays, Hospice and Pointing at the Moon last Saturday. I enjoyed both of the plays, and I appreciated how they showcased the nuanced identities of black-American women and the dynamics of mother and daughter. The play also touched on generational gaps as well as sexuality and a woman's right to reclaim her sexuality as her own. Although I felt that some parts of the play were more of a self-insert on the author's part, and a bit preachy, I enjoyed that it showcased diversity, and unconventional perspectives.
